Let’s talk sustainability

Fast homeware is rapidly becoming the new fast fashion

We know you love decorating and personalising your home with things that make you happy. We also know that you expect more from the brands you buy from when it comes to the sustainability of their products. We’re 100% with you and here to offer an alternative to the worrying trend of fast interiors.

We founded Settle based on the belief that all businesses, established or new, have a responsibility to our beautiful planet to always make thoughtful choices. Putting sustainability at the heart of everything we do ensures that there are no compromises when it comes to finding a stylish and sustainable solution.

We’re always refining our processes and searching for new technologies to reduce our impact on the planet even further. Sustainability is an evolving practice; we’ve only just got going.

What we’ve done so far

Our filling

Super plump and filled with 100% recycled plastic.

Our covers

Made from 78% recycled material, including one of the world’s worst polluters, the plastic bottle.

Our printing process

We use the most sustainable process possible in fabric printing: digital sublimation.

Our lifespan

A dog bed that stays in shape and has changeable covers, provides more longevity.

“We believe that adopting eco-friendly practices that respect our planet should no longer be applauded but expected.”

How we use recycled plastic

When you buy a Settle bed you are rescuing unwanted factory offcuts and giving discarded plastic a second life. This saves them from clogging up landfills and polluting our beautiful oceans.

This plastic waste is turned into the raw material, Recycled PET. RPET is created by collecting, sorting and melting plastic down into flakes. These are then spun into recycled polyester fibre that we use to create our super plump filling. The 100% RPET filling used in Settle beds is part of a closed-loop system that can be recycled again and again and again and again and again… you get the picture.

Oh and one more thing, our filling is certified by the GRS (Global Recycled Standard) who work towards increasing the use of recycled materials in products – a mission we’re totally on board with.

And the covers?

The fabric used to make our covers is super sustainable. Just like our filling, we start by turning plastic waste into RPET. This is then spun to create the recycled polyester yarn. Recycled polyester is pretty amazing as it performs just as well as virgin polyester (what the majority of dog beds are made from), but it uses way less resources to make.

What does that mean exactly? Well, recycled polyester uses significantly less water and energy in the production process. It also creates less Co2 emissions and prevents further extraction of non-renewable resources like crude oil.

By choosing recycled polyester, we’re able to deliver a product with the quality and durability you would expect from your dog bed, but with a smaller environmental footprint.

We’re always refining our processes and searching for new technologies to reduce our impact on the planet even further. Sustainability is an evolving practice; we’ve only just got going.

More on digital sublimation

We use the most sustainable process possible in fabric printing: digital sublimation.

We think you’ll love this method as it produces literally zero waste by turning the solid inks directly into a gas without any water needed for dyeing. This also means no dye will get into our water system when printing Settle covers – something that sadly happens with most other dying processes.

Our biodegradable and water-based inks will then penetrate into the fibres of our recycled polyester material, bringing our designs to life with incredible definition and detail.

And as if this method couldn’t get any better, it is extremely fade-resistant meaning your Settle bed will remain vibrant wash after wash.

Made to last

Creating a dog bed that offers longevity was so important to us.

Machine washable covers really help with this. Go one step further and buy one of our spare covers: they’re available in any design and any size. Alternating them will seriously extend the use you’re able to get out of your Settle bed. Plus, you get to enjoy more than one of our beautiful designs and switch up the look in your home.

Most of us have a spare pair of bed linen, we want to make your life easier by having the same option available for your dog bed.

Plus, don’t forget that Settle beds stay in shape. This is down to our super plump filling and internal wall panels that help to minimise fibre migration and prevent clumping.

The dog bed is

no longer

something you have to

regularly replace.
